So if I never wash my hair, or even shower; and wear flipflops and yoga pants every day, everwhere, including weddings; and use a bendy straw in a gallon jug of sangria starting at 8am; but I have a Spouse who actually contributes, um, what’s my excuse?

I found myself shouting at my two-and-a-half year old daughter to do a wee before bed last night. I stood over her in the toilet and shouted in a highly satisfying make-the-most-of-that-toilet-echo kind of way. My husband had been on a film shoot for Two. Whole. Days.

She didn’t wee. But upon reflection, I really have to ask myself if I would be able to wee in the presence of a crazed, shouting, mother-figure. Possibly not.

What’s better than your husband coming home after an absence? Absenting yourself for several days in hospital. Hearing ‘I could never do what you do’ and ‘I can’t wait to go back to work for a holiday from all of this’ is somewhat validating, if a stark reminder of how much mopping awaits you at home…

I don’t have any Uggs (but hell, you know they can be VERY sexy – it depends what you accessorize them with!)

I do have a pay check though. (feeds me and the kids, doesn’t quite stretch to Ugg boots)

Thanks for the respect there MM – a necessary top-up as I quite clearly parked mine at the door round about the time I designed my unique style of impro ‘coping’ dance (think epileptic elephant but less coordinated). The Uggs and trackie-dack combo just add to the tragedy. Or should that be high farce??
